Everybody and their Mom has a Palm Pre review on their
site, so I thought that it would be useful to point out a few of
the best ones. I hope that this will save shoppers some time as
they could easily get lost in the sea of reviews out there.
First up is one of my favorite sites, Engadget.
They always do great reviews and are sure to contain alot of
info, pictures, and video which is the best part! Their review is
so lengthy that its broken down into four posts. Overall they
gave a favorable review to the Palm Pre.
Something I got from their review that I did not with any others
was the fact that the Sprint Network was faster than AT&T and
T-mobile in a test. It was also noted that a downfall of the
Sprint EVDO network was that it did not allow for audio and voice
to go through at the same time. This issue is averted if you are
on a wi-fi network but if you are not then it sucks. You can
forget about talking to your friend and getting an update on the
football game at the same time.
The next review is from Test Freaks,
a great site that has some very well organized information and
reviews. I list this review because it offers a few things that
other reviews do not. First off there are expert reviews (133)
AND user reviews (199). This is great because we are not all
experts and sometimes its better hearing real consumer
impressions. Overall Test Freaks gave the phone a 9.5 out of
10.
The other thing I liked was that there was info and links on
purchasing the Pre as well as accessories. I know that many
people despise ads but the ads are tasteful and uber relevant so
to me its a win because it makes sense. Plus the layout of the
site is nice, clean, and uncluttered so that ads don't ugly up
the site.
Lastly I need to give some love to
CNET, everyone's favorite tech review site. They are the gold
standard for reviews in tech. What I noticed right away was a
little editor's note that said they had been updating the review
based on software upgrades and bug fixes that had occured since
the review was first published. This is great for the consumer as
we want the most up to date content, and is indicative of the
professionalism and experience that CNET provides.
A VERY lengthy review that covers everything and includes good
use of photos and video. I did also notice the CNET has many
options to shop for the phone and accessories offered on the page
but I don't feel they are as well integrated as Test Freaks and I
still feel that Engadget has the cleanest design and layout. But
CNET being the number one site I have to list them here. Again, a
TON of information on that CNET review.
I hope that helps you in your research on the Palm Pre from
Sprint. You will not have to look any further than these three
sites to make an extremely informed decision on your purchase.
