Foursquare App for the Palm Pre Coming

July 17, 2009 0 Comments

Foursquare is a really cool social app that uses location based services to connect you and your friends to various locations and businesses. It was launched at SXSW and has since gained momentum with the tech savvy. One can become a "mayor" or earn "badges" for visiting certain locations often and then noting them via their phone's location based service, text message, or the Foursquare mobile site.

The service is getting so popular that bars, restaurants, and cafe's are starting to give the "mayor's" for their business special discounts and in some cases FREE BEER and DRINKS! The idea is that these mayors are key influencers and can generate a lot more business for them by talking about their business and inviting their friends. Duh.

Of course there is an iPhone app that is quite popular and is the main reason for the popularity of Foursquare. One ...

Palm Pre users are finally starting to get all the great apps! With the recent announcement of the NFL Mobile Live app to come preloaded on the Palm Pre soon, similar that annoying Nascar app that we all want to remove from our phones but cannot.

Well it was announced the other day that Pre users will now be able to get MLB Mobile Premium on their phones via a Web app, which is a bit odd but hey it works! I am a die hard baseball fan and will be trying this out today.

New Palm Pre Ad "Flow"

June 4, 2009 1 Comment

Palm's new ad featuring a character known as 'Anima' as well as 1,000 martial arts dancers from the Shaolin Kung Fu School in Dengfeng. The same dancers were part of the amazing opening ceremonies for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. And Anima will be a recurring character throughout the Palm ad campaign.

The large ad campaign for Palm will not launch until June 21st, two weeks after the Palm Pre's release, though. But let's just say the campaign will be massive and unprecedented for Palm. Looks like Palm really is banking their future on this product and the new WebOS!

100 Palm Pre WebOS Applications Promised by Handcase

June 4, 2009 0 Comments

Handcase, a long time developer of software for the Palm platform, has promised that it will be coming out with 100 new applications for the new WebOS running on the new Palm Pre coming out this Saturday June 6th.

This is great news for the Palm Pre Phone as one of the biggest reasons that the iPhone is so much better than the Pre is that there are so many third-party apps that enhance the device. It has been said that Palm could compete with this because of their extensive developer network built up over the years dating back to the Palm Pilot.

Handcase has created over 300 products for Palm so far and it looks like Palm is going to allow them to be one of the few select development partners. It has been said over and over again that Palm needs to hasten the development of their relationships ...

Palm Pre Compatible With iTunes

June 2, 2009 0 Comments

It has been reported around the Web recently that the Palm Pre will be capable of syncing with iTunes and will show up as an "iPod" when plugged into a Mac. This makes a lot of sense to everyone since many the Pre staff are ex-Apple employess and the creator of the iPod is the main man on the Pre.

This of course pissed off Apple completely and a war of words has ensued between the Palm Pre camp and the Apple corps (pun intended). A rather heated exchange of words at that. Man o man, the marketing geniuses at Palm are really good. They have been mustering any and all the attention the can. From reports of a lack of phone availability on the launch date, to this latest iTunes development, Genius.

I discovered today, over at Crunchgear, that it is HIGHLY unlikely that the Apple corps will allow ...

Sprint Making Big Advertising Push for Pre

April 28, 2009 0 Comments

Sprint recently took out a full back page ad in the Wall Street Journal. The ad ran Sprint $264,000! This is a rather big spend in a down economy and leads me to believe that Sprint and Palm are really going to put forth all of their efforts into the Palm Pre. Many analysts say that The Pre may be the last bastion of hope for the two failing companies and that if the Pre is not a gigantic success that the companies will shortly fizzle out.
